Dr. Patterson was the first of four children born to Ms. Frances E. Sanderson on July 8, 1960 in Vidalia, GA. Within a few years the family moved to Prince William County, VA. She was raised in Woodbridge only a short distance from Sterling, VA the location of her future church home and family.

After graduation from Garfield High School in 1978, Francene Patterson pursued a career with the Federal Government. This career spanned 23 years during which time she honorably served the Department of Defense, the Department of the Navy, the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the US Air Force. Throughout these years a hunger for knowledge of Godís Word was building and taking over her life. She finally left her well-established career and yielded to the Holy Spirit. In 1996 Francene Patterson received her bachelor of Theology degree from Andersonville Baptist Seminary. From that same institution she received her masters of Christian Counseling and subsequently her doctorate in 2003.

Dr. Patterson met her future husband, Bishop Leslie Patterson when they both tried to pull into the same parking space at a retail shopping center. Bishop Patterson, being a gentleman, gave her the space and thus began a strong spiritual union that would not only transform their lives but the lives of many others as well. They were married in July of 1990. They have two beautiful children and two wonderful grandchildren.

In August of 1995, Dr. Francene Patterson became the First Lady of First Baptist Church of Sterling, VA when her husband, Bishop Leslie Patterson, Jr. was called to be Pastor. Together they grew the membership from 75 to over 700. In 2004 her work helped build a beautiful 30,000 + square foot building that houses the sanctuary, a gymnasium and a daycare center. Dr. Patterson directly oversaw the development of King Solomonís Christian Academy Ė her shared vision with her husband for an affordable Christian daycare center and preschool.

She currently continues to oversee the thriving Daycare Center, the Womenís Ministry, the Deaconess Board and the Prison Ministry as well as many other ministries at First Baptist Church of Sterling. She is an anointed preacher and teacher. She serves as a counselor for the Church and in the mission field whenever possible. She is a sought after conference speaker in her own right as well as having been seen on The Black Family Channel and The Word Network along with her husband, Bishop Leslie Patterson, Jr..

Dr. Patterson serves as a role model and mentor for the women at First Baptist Church of Sterling. Her spiritual influence is unparalleled in the lives of all those she touches.
