Upcoming Events: Recreation Ministry

Recreation Ministry
Bro. Reggie Parker

Purpose

The purpose of the Recreation Ministry is to provide opportunities in which our members and their guests may participate in meaningful, leisurely activities in a Christian setting with quality and dedicated leadership.

Through our Recreation Ministry, we seek to lead participants into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.  The Recreation Ministry is to complement and support the overall church strategy through Evangelism, Discipleship, Ministry, Fellowship, and Worship.

Mission

The Recreational Ministry of First Baptist Church of Sterling (FBCST) will include a wide variety of activities for children, youth, and adults, from organized team sports such as basketball, baseball, softball, flag football, volleyball, soccer, and group fitness programs such as yoga, Pilates, aerobics, and body sculpting.

The FBCST has a gymnasium where it may be used as an inside walking track, for fitness classes, indoor soccer, volleyball, and basketball that is open to FBCST members as well as the entire community.  Whatever the activity might be, each is designed to achieve four primary objectives:  witness, service, fellowship, and personal growth.

Objective

The recreational programs will provide an informal atmosphere in which to witness.  The programs offered through the FBCST Recreation Ministry will provide a positive example of Christianity in action to the entire community.

An individual will find many ways to serve through recreation ministries: as a coach, a player, a team parent, a referee, or as an umpire.  The fellowship enjoyed through the recreational programs will help to build and strengthen interpersonal relationships.  Participants in these programs will learn skills, which will affect them mentally, socially, and morally in the future.
